VLS 1 – The Climb

My first five games was as I expected. We do have a competitive team for the French National Division, thus our good sequence. I have to admit that I thought it would take longer to adjust the squad, but as we changed from the previous tactic to a 4411, the team seamed to be used to this style. Though the goals are coming, my attacking force is sad! Chadili has scored three and Mignon two. Pretty decent numbers, though the amount of easy goals they miss is really sad! On the other hand, I am very happy with my midfielders, that build up play and create good chances.

This great kick off, took us from the 7th place to 2nd. I’m not so impressed as I have pointed out before, we have enough quality to fight for promotion, but it will be harder on the next tier. There are eight games left, and if we continue the current form, we might even get promoted being champion.

VLS – S1 – The Club

image

As something new to this story, I will have my fictional Manager, Guillaume Gump, restricted to some actions according to his reputation. At his first job, as no reputation is made yet, Gump will have little responsibilities of the pitch. The Director of Football will be in charge of most decisions for the club. eventually as Gump’s reputation grows, he will earn himself more responsibilities.

This game play will add up to my commitment to the game, as obviously I will look upon taking more action off the pitch.

As I will have practically no responsibility on bringing in players or selling them, I will concentrate my squad picking looking at the squad depth. Though for tougher leagues our squad would be considered very weak… to dispute the French National, I believe we have enough quality. Though if promoted, we will have to work hard to maintain ouserlves on the French Second Tier with this weak team. Most definitely look to reinforce the team if promoted. Guillaume Loriot was informed to be the best player of the squad, I do look to play him as the defensive MC in my squad. The funny thing, is that he doesn’t appear on the squad strength overview! I see that my main weakness is upfront, as all my forwards are really weak players, and don’t deserve to play football in a professional division.

image

For now, I will play the team in a 4411 with side midfielders and an attacking midfielder acting as a supporting forward. I decided to go with this formation to gain advantage through the middle of the park with the defensive CM the supporting DLP and the attacking AMC. Add to that, the wide midfielders, that will hold position through the flanks to add bodies on the way of any opposing teams.

Below is the fixture list till the end of the current season. As I said, USBCO is currently in 9th place, and 7 points behind the promotion zone. I believe we can fight our way higher up on the table, and why not, get promoted!

VLS – Season 1 – Appointment

image

After putting the game on sim, applying for jobs, my first call up was to take over US Boulogne Côte d’Opale or just USBCO. A french club currently disputing the French National division, or third tier. USBCO had dropped on the 2011 – 2012 season from L2, back to National. Lest go for a little background brought by the game.

image

I was offered a really low offer, though for an amateur manager, it was more than enough for a career kickoff. A two year contract to show what I can do for the club. We are currently in ninth place, with a team more than capable of getting promoted back to L2. Though we are in February, I’m confident that I might fight point by point till in the promotion zone. There are no playoffs in the French National Division, and only three teams get promoted. There are 9 points between the first place and us in 9th. Making me believe that a good sequence might get us closer to the boards objective of promotion.

Financially USBCO looks a bit messed up. There’s a hole of -£600k on the club acount, and it all looks forward to a messy rest of the season. Low ticket sales, a squad with no real star that could be sold to balance finances, there will have to be some cuts on the squad in order to maintain a low costa wage budget. Perhaps I might focus on bringing the wage bill down, and bringing in youngsters, for the next season be better prepared financially. Though the board demands promotion. This might be a good challenge, to keep financial balance with a good enough team to get promoted. And another point, a team that when promoted to the 2nd tier, not be immediately relegated back to the 3rd tier.

For now, that’s all I’ve got. Tomorrow I might bring the squad analysis and by the weekend, an update on the rest of the season.

Vivre Le Songe –The Set Up

image

Mates, I’m back, hope this spell lives longer than the Saint Jordi one. Well, I just got established with my new job, and now got enough time to dedicate to this great hobby of ours! Football Manager! The title, Vivre le Songe = Living the Dream in French!

Mr. Gump is back, this time as Messier Gump, as the game will begin in France.

Guillaume (translation for William) begins his career unemployed. Aiming to make his name in French football, and when possible, gain the world!

I have just set up the game in which Messier. Gump will be starting unemployed, and I expect to take over some French team when a chance show-up.

The chosen leagues where:

  • England – Two Levels;
  • Italy – Two Levels;
  • France – Two Levels;
  • Germany – Two Levels;
  • Spain – Two Levels;
  • Brazil – One level, only used to begin the game in December.

The idea behind this game, is FUN FUN FUN! I have no real objective, but might be fun to make a career for Messier. Gump, building up his reputation throughout the seasons, and eventually be hired by top clubs. So perhaps the objective of this save is to be hired by Gump’s favourite club (FC Nantes).

I’m Sorry

Mateys,

Again I have to ask for your pardon!

A couple of days after starting the St. George Story, I got promoted on my job, and with the new real life challenge, I would have little time to dedicate to the story!

I will not continue it. but hope that the idea behind it may get some interested folks on trying something similar!

I’ll soon be back with a story as i have managed to get things going on the job, and now will have a bit more time to have fun here!
