Our campaign began with two convincing victories over Sunderland and Aston Villa, when Cemil Torun showed all his talent! We were able to hold down Tottenham and Everton with ties, where we showed that we can surprise the big clubs, like we had done last season. Against Stoke, quite an easy game, though the slim scoreboard, we did dominate with 64% ball possession.

After our win against Stoke, we had a bad run of two defeats and three ties. Though we were only considered favourties against Blackpool, it was quite disappointing to see us open the scoreboard and they allowing Blackpool, Blackburn and Newcastle score to tie or win the match. Quite interesting is that on this same periord, John Fleck’s performances weren’t very good!

Against West Brom, we began the game loosing, but my defenders scored twice off of dead ball situations climbing higher than the opposition to turn the match around! Morale was high, but we weren’t able to hold down Arsenal and Liverpool on the next round. We were defeated twice, and dropped down to the 13th position. To finish this run of games, we faced Swansea away, and weren’t able to hold our lead, allowing Danny Welbeck in great form to tie the match with 6 minutes remaining in the game.

We sit below to where I expected us to be. I believe that we lost important points on our defeat against Blackpool, and on the tie against Blackburn, Newcastle and Swansea. With two or three wins in these games we could be right behind Man City in the league table! There is still a lot to come and time to revert these points!

Our Carling Cup campaign is under control, and we have qualified to play against Chelsea for the Quarter Final of the competition. We had to get past Coventry, Newcastle and West Brom to qualify, and though the last two matches had tight scoreboards, we did impress in the pitch, and deserved the victories!

About the stats, its sad to see that my top goalscorer is a player who’s role is of a Central Midfielder supporting the squad. Most of Torun’s goals have being from out of the box, from long shots. That’s nice, but it also points out that my passing game is not efficient, or that my strikers are not finding space.
